Fribourg & Treyer Princes Special 5g Tap Tin
Fribourg & Treyer Princes Special 5g Tap Tin
A unique and flavorful smokeless tobacco product with a spicy, floral, and complex taste. Made with a blend of Virginia and Oriental tobaccos, this medium brown snuff has a coarse grind and slightly moist texture for an intermediate level of ease of use. High in nicotine for a satisfying experience.

I've been spending a lot of time lately with Indian snuffs, with their fine grind; Prince's Special arrived as a very dark, very coarsely ground snuff.
I'll mention here that I'm not a fan of tap-tins. With such a lovely scent as this, pinching is almost surely the best way to get all of that scent distributed around and make it last, and a tap-tins ruins it. My solution: dump it all into a different container.
No matter. This snuff has a surprising initial burn; plenty of solid tobacco beneath all the lovely scent. I can't say it's overly perfumed, as that would suggest too much, but it's certainly thoroughly perfumed. And it's one of those scents that will come wafting back ten minutes after a few good bumps, one of the things I love about it.
Tap-tin or no, this would be a five-star review if 1) the grind were just a touch finer, and 2) if there was just a skosh more moisture. It's not too dry, but this isn't an all-day sort of snuff, & I'm concerned about how much it'll dry over the course of a couple of weeks. Worthy of a spot in rotation, for sure.
A little civet, a little cat piss, a little rose…Princes Special mixes all of these without the brutality of Princes. If Princes is like being launched from an aircraft carrier on a Hawker Harrier, Princes Special is a ride on a Sea King. Still martial, it has a high nicotine and moisture content; however, it will not cause cardiac arrest. If you like Princes but find it too intense for daily use, Princes Special is the perfect alternative.
Sweet and floral, but not cloying, this snuff is easy to take, low in burn, dark, and moist. I do not pick up any one particular scent, except, perchance, for rose (my palate is more adapted to my cigars), but the overall combined odour is quite pleasant. I do not believe it to be a true all-day snuff, but it is one that proves a good choice for at least most of the day. I would add that it is a touch too bright a scent to be adequate as an after-dinner or late evening snuff. Nevertheless, the quality is obvious; this snuff is dripping in class.
Very dark and moist. when first snuffed the rose scent and burn is almost overwhelming. but it slowly fades away into a wonderful woody, light rose, perfume scent that you just cant seem to get enough of. the tobacco scent stays in the backround the entire time, and the wonderful aroma lasts about 15-20 minutes in my nose. It almost reminds me of walking into an antique shop filled with old wood and perfumes. i would not recommend this as an everyday snuff, but its great for a bi-weekly treat wen you need something strong yet different.
This is amazing! One of my favorites so far, although I do not use it as an all day snuff as it is very powerful. It is a coarse/moist grind that lasts quite a while. The flavor profile is extremely bold, very sandalwood/musk with a nice 'ting' but it is smooth too. This is the type of snuff you give as a gift!
